blog module in other language

I would like to have the blog module (especially the dates) in another format (namely German). How can this be done? I tried setlocale but with no apparent success. When you visit http://memoniac.com/blog/ it reads March instead of "März".

The blog module uses the date function which doesn't support localization. You may need to use strtotime and convert it into a timestamp format that would allow you to further manipulate it (perhaps with http://php.net/manual/en/class.intldateformatter.php)
